"My Reality" Opening at SunTrust Center
January 10 — January 25
11:00 am – 2:00 pm
SunTrust Building; 919 E Main St, Richmond, VA 23219
“My Reality” is re-opening in the SunTrust Center on East Main Street -- where the JLARC, the General Assembly's watchdog agency, is temporarily meeting while their main building is under construction!
"My Reality" is a groundbreaking exhibition and virtual reality installation created by teens impacted by the juvenile justice system in Richmond, Virginia. Using art and technology, the exhibit amplifies the powerful stories, dreams, and desires of incarcerated youth, while showcasing how artists, communities, and advocates can come together to imagine a better world for all of us.
The exhibit was created as part of the Performing Statistics project with support from an incredible group of artists; Scenic, a virtual reality content studio based in New York City, muralist Kate Deciccio, poet Roscoe Burnems, and audio journalist Catherine Komp. Performing Statistics, a ongoing initiative of ART 180, partners with Legal Aid Justice Center and the RISE for Youth coalition to transform art made by youth in the system, into powerful advocacy campaigns, experiences, and events.
Come out and support these brave and brilliant youth!
The Exhibit is open all day, but if you would like to see the virtual reality experience, please come Monday - Thursday at 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
