Lydia Baker is an artist and teacher currently living in Richmond, VA. Baker received her BFA in Communication Arts and Design in 2013. Since then, Lydia has played an active role in Richmond’s art community.
Lydia is interested in a variety of subject matter but is most passionate about the figure. Her love of the figure can be seen with one visit to Lydia’s studio, which is filled to the brim with studies of the human form. Developing her own work is not Lydia Baker’s only ambition.
Baker strives to share her passion for art making with the community at large. She has taught several classes with Art180, including painting from memory and a self-portrait course. Lydia feels that her experience teaching through Art180 was transformative and helped her evolve into a better artist and educator.
The emerging artist has also taught classes with Art on Wheels and done volunteer work at the Visual Arts Center. Lydia currently works with seniors as an art teacher in a retirement community.
She continues to push her personal artistic growth and will be moving to New York in August 2018 to further her art education.
