Generosity in 2007
ART 180 programs affect the community — and it is the support of the community that makes them possible. We are grateful for the private foundations which have formed the backbone of our support and we hope to strengthen our sustainability by increasing the number of individual donors.
In 2007, we received two significant gifts from major financial companies: Genworth ($58,000) and Bank of America ($100,000 for 2 years, inaugural Richmond Neighborhood Builder Award). Each
corporation boasts a national presence while focusing on ways to enrich the Richmond area. They believe that ART 180 improves the health and vitality of our region. These funds have helped empower us to get underserved youth recognized and involved in bettering their lives and positively affecting the community.
Another phenomenal source of funds came very graciously from contributions in memory of Jon Zanin. (more than $7,800). “Jonny Z” was a 26-year-old local legend, musician and organizer in the arts community known as an ambassador of good will, support and friendship. In the spirit of his giving nature, a memorial fund was established upon his death in May 2007. The funds raised in his name will be used for a mural project this summer.
We never forget that all donations represent real people who believe in the power of art to turn lives and communities around 180 degrees.
